There is something powerful about lifts in partner dancing. When done correctly, they are not about strength alone but about timing, trust, communication, and connection between partners.
Following the success of our first Lift Workshop of 2026 held on 7 February, Five6seven8 Dance Studio is excited to continue the series with returning instructor Kevin Basson. These workshops have quickly become a favourite for dancers wanting to safely explore lifts while building confidence and improving their partner work.
Whether you are attempting your very first lift or looking to refine technique and expand your repertoire, these workshops are designed to meet dancers where they are and help them progress in a structured and supportive environment.
Why Lift Training Matters
Lifts can easily feel intimidating, especially when dancers focus only on the final result. The Lift Workshops at Five6seven8 focus instead on the foundations that make lifts safe and successful.
Participants learn:
- Correct lifting and supporting technique
- Body awareness and strength engagement
- Partner communication and timing
- Safe entries and exits
- Control and confidence in execution
By understanding the mechanics behind lifts, dancers gain confidence that carries into performances, social dancing, and even wedding choreography.
Safety remains the priority throughout, with clear instructions and progressive learning suitable for both new and experienced dancers.
Solo dancers are always welcome and will be paired where needed.
